York: Ghost Tales from the Most Haunted City in Europe

York has a lot of ghosts. In 2002, the International Ghost Research Foundation said it was the most haunted city in Europe, with 504 hauntings within the confines of the ancient walls.

Founded by the Romans in 71AD, the city's violent and volatile history – including Viking invasions, the Norman Conquest and the Civil War – makes its ghostly legacy easy to understand.

The Minster, which stands towering over the city, is said to be haunted by Seamus the dog, whose barks echo through the halls at night. Legend has it that Seamus and his stonemason master worked on the Minster when it was being built. Other workers did not like the pair so one night decided to brick Seamus in behind a wall. With his master unable to find him, Seamus died alone terrified in the darkness, his barks never answered.

In one of the houses behind the Minster, another ghost wanders the upper floors. A family that had moved into the house quickly became aware of a strange presence. A crying sound would come from the children's bedroom upstairs and people who entered would be overcome with feelings of sadness and regret.

The girl had lived in the house in the late 14th century. Just six years old, her
parents had died from the Black Death in the family home. Fearing she too had the disease, the child was locked in with her parents' bodies by locals. However, she was not infected and after the doors and windows were boarded up, she slowly starved to death all alone.

Rachel Lacy, a paranormal historian from York worked in the Haunted House, on Stonegate, before it closed down just a few days ago. As a paranormal historian, she used to lead ghost tours of York and has researched ghost stories from the city for many years.

Explaining why York was so haunted, she said that before the Romans arrived about 2,000 years ago, there were early tribes that had kept the land as sacred ground. "Then the Romans came and built a great city on sacred site. Maybe they disturbed something much earlier," she said.

While working in the Golden Fleece, one of York's most haunted pubs, Lacy said she and many other members of staff saw ghosts or experienced paranormal activity. "The Fleece is weirder than anywhere I've ever worked. I've heard a lot of stories from different people. I saw things there that I've never seen anywhere else."

Staff members told stories of seeing their colleagues walking through rooms only to later discover they weren't there or had only just arrived. People heard furniture being moved around when alone in the pub, while others heard their names being called.

Discussing her favourite ghost tale from York, Lacy said she had personally interviewed Harry Martindale, whose story about the Roman soldiers walking on their knees is one of the city's most legendary.

Martindale had been working at the Treasurers House where a Roman road had been discovered in a cellar. He went down on a broken ladder and began work. However, as he came to the end of his shift he heard music coming from the wall he was leaning on. He fell down and scrambled into a corner, when he saw Roman soldiers emerge from the wall and march down the road. He could only see to their knees – however, when they walked over the hole to the Roman road, he could see their full legs. He could hear them talking, but could not work out what they were saying.

"Now I could see them exactly as I can see you now, they weren't no wisp of smoke, they weren't whirly, you know, the atmosphere didn't change, they were human beings as came out of the wall except they were dressed as roman soldiers," he said.

Martindale's story gained legitimacy after describing several aspects about the Roman soldiers' clothing that he would not have known at the time, including how they laced their sandals, their tunics and their shields.

Lacy said that although a number of popular ghost stories in York have been corrupted over time, there was a great deal of evidence and sightings to support the city's ghostly reputation. The Haunted House has now been bought by a property development group which plans to refurbish and rent out the house.

She said that after Haunted House closes, they will be working to purge the property of ghosts through rituals, including the spirit of a girl cursed by her own mother in York Minster. The girl had been betrothed to a boy living next door. However, she was caught sneaking out from his house and the moral police dragged them to court.

After being questioned, the pair supplied contadictory stories and she was cursed. She ended up marrying a different man who turned out to be "incredibly violent". After trying to flee, he caught up with her during an Easter Parade and beat her so severely doctors believed she would die. However, her ultimate end remains a mystery. "The court records stop before the story ends, so either money changed hands to make it go away, or the documents were lost. But the last documents with the husband's name showed he had married another woman, so she either died or he killed her," Lacy said.

"I can't think of a better reason why she would haunt the house."

Ghost City: China Property Agency Launches ‘Haunted House’ Database

From flimsy fixtures to pestilential pipes, Beijing apartments generally come with one defect or another. So who needs an angry ghost added to the equation?

To help potential residents suss out whether their apartment might be prone to supernatural visitors with axes to grind, one Chinese property agency has created a database cataloging unnatural deaths—murders, suicides, etc.— that have occurred in Beijing homes.

According to an analysis posted on a site operated by China’s Ministry of Justice, no clear law exists that requires Chinese landlords or would-be sellers to disclose, say, a particularly brutal history attached to an apartment. To be sure, there’s precedent for buyers who weren’t aware of such a past to gain compensation through the courts if they feel duped. In one 2011 case, a buyer surnamed Wang ended up being awarded about 60,000 yuan after the seller failed to make clear that a previous resident had committed suicide on the premises.

Still, the site warns, caveat emptor.

Enter the haunted-home database. Such databases have also been created in cities such as Hong Kong and Taipei, where residents likewise have a strong aversion to homes with violent histories. In Hong Kong, for example, such homes are meticulously documented. Traditionally, they have been sold for discounts of as much as 30% and are particularly popular with expats, who agents say are less superstitious and disturbed by such pasts.

A report carried in the Beijing Youth Daily said that the Beijing-based database, created by property agency Home Link, currently features 900 entries. The paper said the database was created after the agency had run into a number of sticky situations in which customers learned about a violent death in their home only after a deal had already been finalized. The company didn’t respond to a request for comment.

As China’s housing property prices have zoomed upwards in recent years, Zhou Yinggang, director of the Chinese University of Hong Kong’s Center for Hospitality and Real Estate Research, said that while the database might be intended to assist potential residents, its information could also be helpful for investors. In Hong Kong, which in years past has experienced a meteoric property rise, some investors who might be priced out of other segments of the market have deliberately targeted haunted apartments, he said.

“This could help create a market for alternative investments,” Mr. Zhou said. “Some haunted homes are in pretty good neighborhoods.”

Either way, buyers can take comfort from one thing: Much of China’s housing stock is new enough that the odds of anything very sordid having previously happened in a particular apartment are comparatively slim. Nearly 80% of all of China’s urban housing stock is just about a decade or so old. By contrast, in the U.S., about 85% of housing was built before 2000.

School Classes Suspended Over ‘Evil Spirits'

A case of mass hysteria has hit a school in the Philippines involving more than 20 teenage students.

The incident took place at Isaac Lopez Integrated School in Mandaluyong City and started when a Grade 8 teacher observed one girl fainting while another stood up and started to act strangely towards her unconscious classmate, prompting staff to restrain her. Later the same day several more students started to act in a similar way, some convulsing on the floor while others exhibited uncontrollable bouts of hysteric crying.

Things eventually got so out of hand that parents were coming to the school to pick up their children and the principal had no choice but to suspend classes for the day. Some of the students were allowed to return home while others were taken to a nearby church and blessed in the belief that it would rid them of evil spirits. An officer in charge of the school believes that the incident stemmed from a group of students who had visited a graveyard and conducted a seance beforehand. "They might have invited the spirits [to possess them]," he said.

"Classes were suspended Thursday at Isaac Lopez Integrated School in Mandaluyong City after around 20 students aged between 12 and 16 started acting strangely - screaming, crying, fainting and convulsing - prompting claims that they were possessed by evil spirits."

Information About Ghosts, Spirits and Other Energies

Information About Ghosts, Spirits and Other Energies

There are many times when a person dies suddenly or with unresolved issues so powerful that the person does not fully crossover into the light or complete the journey to their place of origin. They, in their energy form, remain in the earth or material plane of existence. In this condition these ghosts or earthbound spirits may opportunistically or accidentally attach to a property, a house, or the energy field of a person. When this occurs, the host person can experience influences of the attached earthbound spirit.

Thoughts, emotions, addictions, or strong habit patterns, even physical feelings of the earthbound spirit (such as arthritis or other ailment) may filter to the host person or any of the occupants of the house or building. Since these influences from the earthbound spirit or spirits come through the energy field and brain of the affected person host, this person cannot usually tell the difference between their own thoughts, or feelings and those of the earthbound spirit.

Earthbound spirits are just that, spirits bound or trapped in the earth plane of existence. There are a variety of reasons that a person’s spirit may not cross-over and include not feeling deserving enough, or staying behind to protect or watch over loved ones, or they may just not realize that they have died. They do not belong here and after being trapped for some time, they usually make their presence known so that they can be crossed over to complete their journey.

If people become aware of a ghost’s existence, either attached to their home or their own energy field, and decide to do nothing, it is sort of like keeping the soul of a person for a pet. Usually though, the ghost or spirit makes such a significant impact on the lives of the people or home to which they are attached, most people want to help them to move on.

In our experience, the spirits that attach to a property or a person are not necessarily the spirits of people who previously lived in the house, or someone they might have known. Sometimes yes, but more often than not the spirits have come from somewhere else. In some cases, the person died in the same town or city, sometimes it may be in the same state and other times the person could have died somewhere across the country or continent.

Generally, when older spirits attach to a person’s energy field or house, the influence of these spirits can be experienced as feeling old, fatigued, sometimes even feeling arthritis or other old age illness or symptoms. Once any spirits are cleared, the person or their environment starts to feel better. Sometimes this happens right away and sometimes it takes 3 to 4 days to integrate the change in energy.

In all cases, it is important for the ghost or earthbound spirit to be crossed over so that they can finish their journey at this level of existence and return to their appropriate place in the light.

About Negative Energies

We first need to recognize that all energy comes from one source and there really is no source of evil. However there are supernatural energies that can affect us in a negative way. Like ghosts and spirits, when they attach to our energy field or that of our home, these negative energies can affect our thoughts, emotions, feelings, beliefs and thus our actions. Have you ever felt angry or depressed for no particular reason? Well this could be the influence of a variety of negative energies.

Negative energies can enter and attach to our energy field when we are experiencing a strong negative emotion such as fear, anger, guilt, shame, etc., or when we experience an emotional or physical trauma. Depending upon the number of attached energies and the length of time they have been attached to our energy field, they can significantly magnify our own negative thoughts, feelings (fear, anger, guilt, shame, etc.) and destructive beliefs, thus reinforcing them in our behaviour and our lives. These energies can also interfere with or block our positive thoughts and feelings.

Negative Energetic Imprints
After energetically healing a number of different properties, we realized that a house or land can often require the removal of energetic imprints, in addition to or instead of just the removal of ghosts and spirits.

Energetic imprints could be left behind by not only the recent occupants but also by those that lived in the house or on the land before them, possibly for generations before. These energetic imprints can be felt or perceived by the new occupants or others entering the home or building, especially those who are energetically sensitive. Have you ever felt uneasy or uncomfortable when you enter a building, a house or a particular room? Have you ever experienced the feeling of being angry, or anxious upon entering a home?

Negative energetic imprints can be due to neglect, abuse, or deliberate damage by previous occupants and other circumstances. Negative energetic imprints can also be left behind if there has been a great deal of fighting in the house, physical or emotional abuse, drug or alcohol abuse, or even just the constant bickering of siblings or couples. No matter the cause, negative energetic imprints need to be removed so they do not negatively affect those living in the house.

Negative Thought Form Energy
In situations where a person holds strong, emotionally charged thoughts, or beliefs, and holds them for a long period of time, they can create a separate energetic form that connects to their energy field and reinforces the negativity. This energetic form which is sustained and magnified by the originator’s own energy, besides drawing upon their energetic resources, it can affect the person’s energy field or the energy field of their environment in a negative way.  A thought form energy (thought or belief) can also be held for a shorter period of time, however it would have to be driven into the subconscious mind of the person so it would have a strong impact, or a high degree of acceptance by the person and be imprinted on the host’s psyche as being true.

The source of Thought Form energies are generally from the person’s own self talk and can attach to their own energy field or that of their home. We create thought form energies all the time, either intentionally or without even realizing it. Have you ever harshly judged yourself, spoken negative words about yourself, such as “I am so stupid” or “I am such an idiot”?  If these types of statements are repeated often enough and said with a strong emotion, you create a thought form which is negative and harmful.

Adversarial Energies
Adversarial Energies are in opposition to our growth and development as human and spiritual beings and are therefore adversarial in nature. These negative energies create adversity in our lives by magnifying or energizing our negative thoughts, beliefs, emotions and as a result our actions. Some adversarial energies attach to and amplify the negative feelings of Ghosts and Earthbound Spirits. When people die before their time and stay behind, they as ghosts or spirits can still feel anger, frustration, hate and sadness, particularly when they realize that they are trapped in the earth plane.

Curse Energies
In our society today we give little attention or credence to what we call curses. A curse is a powerful energetic thought form with a specific purpose that is directed or focused on a particular person, or place, which then affects their energy field, and therefore their life. Any strong negative thought held long enough toward someone, or a negative thought that is highly charged with emotion can become a curse in the life of that person. A curse can be intentional where one person wants to direct harm to another, or, a curse can be unintentional, usually in the case of a spur of the moment, emotionally charged, experience between two people. Good intentions can also become a curse when they interfere with the receiver’s life in any way.

A curse is a two-way street since it always happens at the expense of the one who creates the curse because they have to feed it energetically to keep it alive. Since a curse is essentially non-material energy it can survive and be active for generations down family lineage.

Belief In Ghosts Is On The Increase

A recent study conducted in the UK has reported a steadily increasing trend in paranormal belief.

The results suggested that up to 52% of the population believes in the supernatural, a figure that represents an increase from two similar studies conducted in 2009 and 2005 that saw a result of around 40%. One in five people were also said to have had a paranormal experience at some time in their lives.

The rising interest in the paranormal has been partially attributed to the recent surge in ghost hunting TV shows such as UKTV's "Most Haunted" which both generated high viewing figures and divided opinions in equal measure.

Programmes showcasing the controversial abilities of spiritualist mediums combined with a rise in the number of ghost tours around the country have also helped solidify the idea of ghosts and hauntings in the public consciousness.

"It could be that in a society which has seen economic uncertainty and is dominated by information and technology, more people are seeking refuge in the paranormal, whereas in the past they might have sought that in religion," said Dave Wood, chairman of the Association for the Scientific Study of Anomalous Phenomena.

"We have felt that a belief in UFOs has been declining for some time. I think a belief in ghosts is easier to sustain. Most people will know someone they respect who claims to have some sort of experience. That is no longer the case with UFOs."

Paranormal Investigators Confirm Poltergeist Possession of Microwave!

The couple experienced a spate of problems with the device. Image Credit: CC BY-SA 3.0 Apoltix

Homeowner Bill Michaud says, “It started with random beeping. One time it went off like the food was done, and when I looked over, the damn thing was still going and said 6:66.” Unfortunately for Michaud and his family, this spooky occurrence was just the beginning of a long, kitchen-appliance nightmare.

“We found [the microwave] in the attic when we moved in a few months back. Didn’t have one, so figured, ‘what the hell,’ might as well try it,” says Michaud. “I tell you, the thing heats up the food real nice. Sometimes it beeped or turned itself off in the middle of cooking, though. Then really weird things started happening. It zapped at food as if we were putting shards of metal in it. I couldn’t figure it out.”

His wife Betty adds, “It turns on by itself. It turns off by itself, too. It’s like it’s messing with me. No matter how many times I popped the door shut, the minute I leave the room it pops open again. One night, really late, I walk into the kitchen and I’m about to open the fridge, and the microwave door flies open, lighting the whole kitchen up in a horrible, scary lightning-blue color. It’s like it wanted to electrocute me.”

The Michauds contacted the Kansas Ghost Hunter group right away. Founder Kevin Young was eager to study both the microwave and the entire home in general.

“The Michauds didn’t want to go without a microwave, or risk upsetting the spirit by taking it out of the house. We obtained permission to stay the night and study the phenomena in its natural environment,” said Young. “My wife, who is also on my squad, is highly empathic. As we warmed up TV dinners in the microwave, she sensed a presence. As soon as she mentioned it, the microwave started beeping repeatedly. The door flung open, and my Hungry Man dinner went flying across the room. We pressed the off button. We unplugged it. It beeped several times after we cut off the power. Of course our digital recording became corrupted, which often happens when there is such strong energy.”

Young called in paranormal investigator, and self-proclaimed authority on mechanical-possession, Carl Richards. He believes it is not a ghost, but a poltergeist that takes possession of the microwave.

“I followed the situation that the Michauds were facing from the beginning, as they posted their disturbances on Facebook. I keep an eye on all local ghost-hunter hobbyists and groups,” said Richards. “The EMF readings confirmed this supernatural manifestation is a poltergeist. I have seen poltergeists occupy washers, TVs, electric heaters, but this is the first time I have seen microwave possession first-hand.”

When Richards was asked if the Michauds should get a new microwave , he advised, “It is important to remember, the malevolent presence does not strictly ‘live in’ the microwave. Getting rid of the machine will not solve the problem. It has the ability to travel throughout the electrical wiring in the house.”

“It is best not to engage the being,” continued Young. “Try not to be fearful. Always remain calm. If you’re facing a poltergeist in your kitchen devices, just ignore its outbursts, and it will not be able to feed off your energies.”

Betty Michaud agrees with Young’s advice. “I think he knows what he’s talking about. It didn’t start getting really bad until we paid attention to it. Now we just ignore it like we would ignore a child’s temper-tantrum, and it still randomly shuts off or zaps from time to time, but nothing really serious. It still heats up our leftovers like a champ, too.”

German Scientists Prove There is Life After Death

Berlin: A team of psychologists and medical doctors associated with the Technische Universität of Berlin, have announced this morning that they had proven by clinical experimentation, the existence of some form of life after death. This astonishing announcement is based on the conclusions of a study using a new type of medically supervised near-death experiences, that allow patients to be clinically dead for almost 20 minutes before being brought back to life.

This controversial process that was repeated on 944 volunteers over that last four years, necessitates a complex mixture of drugs including epinephrine and dimethyltryptamine, destined to allow the body to survive the state of clinical death and the reanimation process without damage. The body of the subject was then put into a temporary comatic state induced by a mixture of other drugs which had to be filtered by ozone from his blood during the reanimation process 18 minutes later.

The extremely long duration of the experience was only recently made possible by the development of a new cardiopulmonary recitation (CPR) machine called the AutoPulse. This type of equipment has already been used over the last few years, to reanimate people who had been dead for somewhere between 40 minutes to an hour.

Near-death experiences have been hypothesized in various medical journals in the past, as having the characteristics of hallucinations, but Dr Ackermann and his team, on the contrary, consider them as evidence for the existence of the afterlife and of a form of dualism between mind and body.
The team of scientists led by Dr Berthold Ackermann, has monitored the operations and have compiled the testimonies of the subjects. Although there are some slight variations from one individual to another, all of the subjects have some memories of their period of clinical death. and a vast majority of them described some very similar sensations.

Most common memories include a feeling of detachment from the body,
feelings of levitation, total serenity, security, warmth, the experience
of absolute dissolution, and the presence of an overwhelming light.

The scientists say that they are well aware the many of their conclusions could shock a lot of people, like the fact that the religious beliefs of the various subjects seems to have held no incidence at all, on the sensations and experiences that they described at the end of the experiment. Indeed, the volunteers counted in their ranks some members are a variety of Christian churches, Muslims, Jews, Hindus and atheists.

“I know our results could disturb the beliefs of many people” says Mr Ackermann. “But in a way, we have just answered one of the greatest questions in the history of mankind, so I hope these people will be able to forgive us. Yes, there is life after death and it looks like this applies to everyone.”

A Mother Was Filming Her Child When A Tiny Creature Was Caught on Camera! 2014

A few days ago, this footage came into our hands. Its a video recorded with a mobile phone by Silvia in 2011.  You can clearly see the appearance of a tiny creature while Silvia was filming her son playing.  According to Silvia, this little creature came out from the kitchen escaped into the garden, leaving behind a foul smell and intense interference on her mobile phone.

Family have witnessed the child would play and talk to himself in his room and often towards the corners of the house but had never worried because they thought it normal for a child that age.  In January 2011, Benjamin was playing as always in the hallway when Silvia noticed a slight change in his behavior so decided to take her mobile phone to record him.
As Silvia watches the screen, she witnessed "something" running in the background. She thought it was just a field mouse (very common in the area) ... but then saw the actual creature, she panicked and screams for her neighbor (the husband was working).  Several years went by and the family kept this secret until today. Now they decided to show this evidence for the world to see on the web, especially asking us in confidence that we respect the request for anonymity of the child and the entire family.

Things do not end there ... Benjamin (now already 5 years old) was often seen "playing" with these entities over the years, and there is a continued presence of these "Elves". While they do not seem aggressive, the smell they leave behind is unbearable and sometimes at night issue a chilling scream!

This video is 1 of 5 shared by the family!

10 Of The Most Terrifying Demonic Representations

It doesn’t matter whether you are religious or not (or even slightly religious), demons and other similar evil creatures have always terrified us, via religious texts (for those who are religious), in mythology, films, TV shows and books. Many of the most terrifying horror films of all time have featured demons as the central antagonists, and it is largely these types of demons that have lived on in our imaginations. Maybe during the day, when we are goofing off with friends, the thought of demons don’t even lightly scare us. But it’s when we are alone, and specifically at night, that we start to get shivers sent down our spine at the mere thought of them.

The reality is that no matter how well made these movies are, or how well written books are, they will never come close to the demons that inhabit religious texts and mythology. When people do think of demons in terms of religion and mythology, we tend to think of the demons from the Bible and of Christian theology. There is no doubt that some of the most terrifying demons that we will look at on this list, do come from the Christian and Judaic religions. But there are many other demons from other mythologies across the world, that are almost, if not equally, as terrifying as the demons of Christian theology. As we shall see, many different cultures and mythologies have demons that are terrifying in their own right. That said, here are the top ten most terrifying demons that will cause you to pee your pants.

10. Agares

Agares is a demon from the Christian theology, and is believed to be the demon that controls the earthquakes. He also influences people to swear and slur other people (so if you’ve sworn just recently, you never know…). But the most terrifying thing about Agares is the power that he has, with over thirty legions of demons under his command and control of the entire eastern side of hell. His physical appearance is either laughable or terrifying, depending on the way you look at it: he is usually depicted as an old man riding a crocodile.

9. Dullahan

Dullahan originates from the Irish theology, and has found exposure through video games. He is depicted as being a headless figure, riding a black horse that has red eyes, with a head in his arm (either his or someone else’s, we are not entirely sure). We do know that whenever he stops riding his horse, another person dies.

8. Djinn

Djinn aren’t known as demons by most people, but are rather known as genies.  Nonetheless, they are scary in their own right and can either be good or evil…so the evil ones are commonly placed in the same category of demons. The scariest aspect of the djinn is that they are given the choice to begin with, to be good or evil…but they live in a world that runs parallel to our own world, and they can transport themselves between the two worlds at will. In terms of physical appearance, the bodies of Djinn are made out of smoke.

7. Abyzou

Abyzou is another demon that originates from the Judeo-Christian theology. A female demon, she is said to terrorize pregnant women by giving them miscarriages or killing their infants after they are born. The physical appearance of Abyzou is very difficult to describe, but she has been depicted as being part snake and part fish.

6. Raiju

Raiju is a demon that originates from Japanese mythology. He comes in the physical form of many different creatures, having been depicted as a small cat, to a monkey, to a big, blue wolf. But his trademark is that he is always accompanied by fire and lightning, and is said to be the cause of much of the lightning storms in the world as well. He is said to leap between the trees and buildings at night and then watch people in their beds as they sleep, sometimes even turning into a very tiny creature to sleep right next to people, without being noticed.

5. Ala

Originating from Slovic mythology, Ala is actually a class of demons, rather than a specific one. Nonetheless, this is not what makes them unique. What makes them unique is that they can be persuaded to do either good or evil things, depending entirely on their mood.  They commonly like to cause bad weather that damages homes, property and even people. They are also bloodthirsty for little children, and regularly possess people at will. Nonetheless, they also like to be respected, and those who do respect them will be blessed with wealth and long life. Ale commonly come in the form of flying creatures such as ravens, crows or even dragons, and are believed to inhabit large and thick trees in the mountains.

4. Jikininki

Another demon who originates from Japanese mythology, the Jikininki are the spirits of evil people who have since died. They have a strong taste for the corpses of dead people, but unlike most demons, they hate themselves. As a result, they are always utterly disgusted with themselves and with one another. They can also alternate between the physical forms of normal human beings, or of disgusting creatures that cannot be described with words. Allegedly, looking at a Jikininki in their evil form can cause anyone to literally, die of fear. But what’s really creepy about the Jikininki is that, since they have the ability to take the forms of normal human beings, they can appear to be human beings living their everyday lives. So if you’re in a public place, take a look around you…

3. Banshee

The banshee is a demon that originates from Irish mythology. The term banshee has actually become world renowned for referring to a vehicle that can be played in the popular video games, Halo. Nonetheless, many aren’t aware of where the term banshee really originates from. The banshee refers to a female demon that traverses the woodland at night, and lets out a low scream or moan that can be heard for miles. Many people mistake this moan for an animal scream or a dying animal. But what’s creepy about these screams is that they are the pre-warning for the death of someone to come, usually of a woman.  The Banshee also takes the form of being a beautiful woman during the day, but at night, when she lets out her screams, she takes on the form of an old hag.

2. Abaddon

A demon from the Christian tradition, Abaddon is a male demon that features most prominently in the Book of Revelations, the last book in the Bible. In the book, Abaddon is depicted as dragging unbelievers and other sinful people into a bottomless pit, and then torturing the people of the Earth with various plagues. He is referred to as the angel of destruction, and is one of the highest ranking demons in hell. As a result, he has scores of legions of demons at his command. So when the apocalypse rolls around, who knows if Abaddon will be the demon orchestrating the whole thing.

1. Aka Manah

Aka Manah is a very terrifying demon, in that he is the most manipulative out of all of the demons on this list. In other words, he has the ability to use people’s good deeds to actually perform evil. In that regard, not even the fully righteous are free of the temptations of Aka Manah. You might think that you could be doing good deeds right now, only to find that it may have devastating consequences for you and others, that you would never see coming.

Signs Of Demonic Possession!

Demonic possession is a situation whereby demons inhabit the body of a human being and takes the total control of both the body and the soul and expresses their will and behavior via the possessed person. Demonologists have tried to understand about demonic possession in order to differentiate it from mental illnesses since sometimes both have common symptoms.

In order to distinguish between demons and illnesses, several demonologists from different religion backgrounds have come up with common signs of demonic possession. On the other hand, they have also tried to come up with types of demons and how their symptoms vary. In general, possessed individuals have the following signs.

#1.Change In Social Behaviors

It has been observed that a person who used to be very social and outgoing suddenly changes and isolates themselves from other individuals. This is always regarded as an early sign of demonic possession and should be observed keenly with other signs in order to come up with an amicable conclusion.

#2.Changes In Personality

Depending on the person, a change in personality can either be slow or fast. They can also be either mild or extreme depending on the level of possession by the demons. Some of the changes in personality possessed individuals depict include mood disorders, personality disorders and social anxiety.

#3.Violent Behaviors

Possessed individuals always become verbally and physically abusive with excessive cases of violence. They are always pissed off by petty issues which a normal person wouldn’t get angry with. Besides this, demonically possessed individuals can easily engage in a physical war with anyone anywhere and anytime.

#4.Polyglossia

This is a term used to describe the ability to intermingle different languages at a go with a lot of fluency. It should be noted that possessed individuals have the ability to speak in different languages even if they didn’t have a prior knowledge of the languages.

#5.Polyglossic Vocals

This is when a possessed individual speaks in distinct and separate voices simultaneously. Many of the individuals might even produce familiar animal sounds such as cats, dogs etc. However, demonologists have cautioned that a conclusive demonic possession should be arrived at only if the individual didn’t have a prior knowledge of interchanging the vocals.

#6.Auditory Experiences

Possessed individuals often hear certain voices normal individuals can’t recognize. Thus, many of the individuals do report of the sounds from different sources which un-possessed individuals are unable to notice.

#7.Unnatural Desires and Feelings

Many of the possessed individuals do exhibit very strange unusual behaviors many of which are obscene. This includes sexual attraction to animals, sexual addictions and even walking naked asking for sexual favors even from the parents.

#8.Excessive Physical Strength

Possessed individuals have always shown excessive physical abilities in that he can’t even be held by a group of well-built people. They always have the ability to do unusual things such as breaking steel doors, breaking solid oak boards using hands etc.

In conclusion, possessed individuals show a range of signs or symptoms which should be looked into with a deeper insight before concluding that they are due to infestation of demons. If an individual shows more than half of the above signs, then it can be conclusively said that they are possessed.

Ghostly Getaways Book: Featuring Local Haunts

BENNINGTON -- Does the ghost of Mary Todd Lincoln mess with the sheets at the Equinox hotel in Manchester? Can some of the disappearances reported near Glastenbury be attributed to aliens? Maybe bigfoot?

Regardless of the answers, both the hotel and the famous ghost town are featured in "Haunted Inns and Ghostly Getaways of Vermont," the latest book by Thea Lewis, creator of the Queen City Ghostwalk in Burlington, published by Haunted America, a division of The History Press.

The 124-page book features reports of the paranormal from more than a dozen inns and places near them across the state, from Stowe to Richmond.

Lewis said she became involved with Historical Press in 2009. The company contacted her
about writing a book regarding alleged ghostly happenings around Burlington, a subject she is quite familiar with, and she agreed. Her first book for the company was, "Haunted Burlington: Spirits of Vermont's Queen City," published that same year. She said the company contacted her a while later asking if she would write a book on the alleged ghostly happenings around Lake Champlain. It just so happened Lewis had been collecting such information already, and in 2012 published, "Ghosts and Legends of Lake Champlain."

Lewis' entry about the "Equinox Hotel," these days known officially as The Equinox: A Luxury Collection Golf Resort and Spa, centers around Mary Todd Lincoln, wife of President Abraham Lincoln.

The Lincolns connection to Manchester is widely known, and according to Lewis' book a few ghost stories around the Equinox are said to be the result Mrs. Lincoln's doings.
Lewis said Mary Todd Lincoln is a fascinating person; having lost two of her sons at young ages, she turned to mediums in an attempt to communicate with them. Spiritualism, Lewis writes, was extremely popular in Washington, D.C., during that time.

As far as the Equinox goes, the facility undertook some renovations in order to accommodate President Lincoln and his wife, but before he could visit he was assassinated. Mary Todd Lincoln was a guest all the same, and reports of rooms left in disarray have been attributed to her, and possibly one other harrowing incident which Lewis describes in the book.

Gerry McFarland, director of sales and marketing for the Equinox, said the hotel would love to have more well-known ghost stories associated with it. For now the Equinox focuses on marketing the hotel, and the area's, rich history, especially as it relates to the Lincoln family which are also connected to the Hildene estate.

The book's entry on Glastenbury, a disincorporated town that is now mostly National Forest land, lists many of the disappearances reported in and around it. Lewis said Glastenbury is not an inn, of course, but neither is Emily's Bridge in Stowe, which gets a nod in this book. These are places, according to Lewis, that come up frequently whenever one talks about Vermont and the paranormal, and are the sort of places those traveling the state like to stop at.

The places in this new book were locales she had already heard about, or learned of through friends who conduct investigations into reports of hauntings.

"I'm just fascinated when urban legends and history dovetail to reveal a story," she said.

In an interview, and in a chapter of the book, Lewis says that oral stories about the nature of an alleged haunting can make the situation appear one way, when historical facts cast things in a different light.

She gave the example of a supposedly haunted restaurant where a young man was said to have committed suicide. Research into the building revealed that it was owned by a well-known smuggler whose buildings had false walls and secret tunnels in them and attracted a rough crowd.

She closes the book with advice for people who wish to do their own investigations into reports of ghosts.

A Child's Eye View of Ghosts and Hauntings

By Alan Leddon
People all over the world have long believed that the dead can come back to visit the living. Worldwide, people envision see-through, airy, frightening beings who return to point out killers, complete unfinished work, visit loved ones, or seek vindication. Why does everyone imagine the same thing? Maybe it is not imagination...

In this latest Child's Eye View Book, Alan Leddon presents information on 60 types of Ghosts from world mythology, as well as thirty-eight mythological figures associated with ghosts and their journeys. A long vocabulary list of terms related to ghost studies and a list of fifteen fairly well known hauntings round out the superb research of this excellent book. The author discusses why funerals are important (it is not why you think!) and explains why different cultures have a similar view of the restless dead.

This work is complete, accurate, and informative without speaking down to its target audience of 8 to 13 year olds. It is written to be palatable for adults and is just the right length for an easy read after work. This is not a collection of almost spooky stories...this is a textbook of real world beliefs and practices.

An Obsession With Werewolves

Why are we so fascinated with werewolves? Is it because all men have a hidden dark side? A beast that is hidden within our inner being, our very soul?

Fascination with half man, half beast goes back into ancient times. We hear of the Egyptian Gods such as Anubis – a human with the head of a jackal. Sobek – a human with the head of a crocodile, Horus – a human with the head of a falcon. Even the Egyptian Sphinx is a monument that displays our fascination with a half human – half beast. A monument that details the body of a lion and the head of a man.

But, there is something about the wolf, that attracts us more than any other beast on Earth. That animal is the wolf. A wolf, with its piercing predator eyes. We admire the way they hunt in packs, how they go for the kill with predator calculation. We feel the goosebumps on our arms as the wolves howl at the moon, it almost seems they are the rulers of the night and pay homage to the full moon.

Is the werewolf, something that some primitive man thought of by himself? Is there a possible explanation on how the werewolf legend came about?

In the 1500s, there were rumors of a Forest Demon that inhabited Salzburg, Austria and Hamburg, Germany. Many locales believed it was witches wearing a uncured skin in some primitive rite. Is this how the werewolf legend started? Was this our ‘therianthrope’ our beast man or were-creature?

Or could there have been an outbreak of congenital hypertrichosis? Where a person has too much body hair and facial hair, like Mah-Me of Burma who had hair covering his full face. Mah-Me came from a family of hairy people. When looking at Mah-Me, he truly looked like a werewolf. His condition was his downfall and he died at the young age of 18.

Could rabies be the source of the werewolf legend? In olden days, when we did not know how to control the rabies epidemic, did hunters go out in the woods and get bitten by wildlife that were infected with rabies? Did the madness set in on a bitten hunter which spawned legends of the werewolf?

Let’s head over to North America, to Vancouver Island, Canada. We don’t have Forest Demons, but we have members of the First Nations – the Nuu-Chah-Nulth wearing the Nootka Mask. When looking at these natives wearing the Nootka Mask, they look like werewolves. The Nootka Mask is a mask that resembles the head of a wolf. So it would seem many primitive people were dressing up as wolves. But, can there even be a simpler explanation?

Could it have been Ergot poisoning? A small fungus that is found in rye, made into bread and eaten by people of the middle ages, causing them to hallucinate? Ergot was even known as Wolfszahn (Wolf-tooth). Ergot poisoning was like digesting LSD, except it was almost guaranteed that you would have a bad trip. Some victims claimed that they saw werewolves in the midst.

However the werewolf legend started, it is a primeval fascination with mankind. A fascination that we can find almost everywhere. Walk into your movie video stores and on the rack you can find Dog Soldiers (where professional soldiers battle werewolves). Harry Potter even has a werewolf named Professor Remus Lupin. The movie Van Helsing with Hugh Jackman, Van Helsing transforms into a werewolf and is able to defeat his arch-nemesis Dracula!

Even when we turn on our TV, we see the fascination. SyFy Channel’s Being Human is a story about a ghost, werewolf and vampire who are roommates. Our reruns like the Munsters have a boy werewolf named Eddie Munster stirring up havoc in the household.

Yes, it appears that werewolves and many other were-creatures will be with us until the end of times. Werewolves are not a fad, it’s a dark deep fascination that is in graded into our DNA and into our souls. Werewolves are here to stay. Beware of the full moon, tread lightly and always look behind your back, because that shadow behind the tree may be the beast we all know as the werewolf!
